Grandma Judy's birthday

We celebrated Grandma Judy's birthday today. Matt & Bethany, Ryan, Sarah were here and of course Grandpa! Look at all the smoke!! :)
The only other news.... Rebecca starts her Survival training this week. It sounds like it could be very hard but I think Rebecca will do just fine.

Cubs Convention / Anniversaries/Bdays

Grandpa is doing great after his foot surgery. He has never had any pain and he is now able to walk longer and better. He still uses the special shoe sometimes, but is handling it really well!
For anyone that doesn’t know – Grandma Judy’s birthday is Friday, January 25th! She is coming to our house for dinner on Sunday.
Uncle Scott & Neen’s anniversary is today and it’s also Shaleah’s birthday. Matt & Bethany will celebrate their 2nd anniversary tomorrow. Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday that we all traveled in the snow to enjoy their wedding?!
We had an awesome time at the Cubs Convention. We think there were more people than ever before but the “crowd control” people did a great job keeping all 15,000 people in line. We got lots of autograph and got everyone that we wanted. There were 16 of us in total for most of the time - Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Scott, Neen, Erin, Allie, Pat (a good friend who actually got us started on the cubs Convention), Uncle Ken, ME, Matt, Bethany, Lisa (Bethany’s sister), Brandon (Lisa’s boyfriend), Ryan, Nicole and Sarah.
Justin – where were you???? WE know how much fun you would have had amongst all the Cubs fans!
Thanks to Dusty for filling us all in on the last blog. I look forward to comments.
Hopefully, I’ll get some pictures up next week.
Go Cubs!!

All about the Cubs!

I kept my promise and am writing on week 2! Thanks to Erin, Jill and Alyssa for updating us.

We got to spend some time with Dusty today watching football. He promised to write something when he gets back home!

We are all anxious to go to the Cubs convention this weekend. There will be 16 of us among 15,000 other Cubs fans! It is a blast! Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Scott, Neen, Erin, Allie, Uncle Ken, Matt, Bethany, Ryan, Nicole, Sarah, me, Bethany’s sister and boyfriend and a friend of ours Pat.

I was so excited at Christmas that my kids got me a brick that will be set outside of Wrigley Field. It says “The Decker Family Fans Forever”. So now we have to find it among all the other bricks! We will have to get to our first baseball game very early!

Can you tell I’m getting Baseball (or Cubs) fever?? When is opening day anyways?

Anyone else have some news??

New & exciting updates!

After many requests, I am updating the family blog and I will try to be better about keeping it updated. I will also start posting pictures again but for now I just want to catch up on news!

Grandpa Jim had outpatient surgery on his foot; he actually had a piece of his toe removed because it keeps getting infected. He was awake the whole time and it was a quick procedure. He is doing well and they will remove the stitches Jan 14th. He needs to stay off it as much as he can, so no more mall walking with Grandma for a while:)

Grandma is busy taking care of Grandpa and is getting ready for their cruise in February!

We are looking forward to the Cubs Convention. Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Scott, Neen Erin, Allie, Uncle Ken, Sarah, Ryan and I are all going down Thur night. Matt, Bethany, Bethany’s sister and her boyfriend will join us on Friday. Grandpa and Sarah think 2008 is REALLY the year.

Now for the news: Matt & Bethany are looking for a house to buy. Matt is still teaching at the alternative school and Bethany is the Chris Ed director at their church and subbing at the preschool. Ryan is starting his 2nd semester of grad school and he will be TA’ing. He got straight A’s last semester. Nicole will graduate from Benedictine this May. Sarah is at Elmhurst College and just turned 21! She wants to major in Sociology and Psychology.

Aunt Sue-Sue & Todd were here for Christmas. We had tons of fun with them. Jill & Markus were in Germany visiting Markus’ family.

Aunt Meg and John are going to Mexico for vacation. Rebecca is done with school and has been assigned to a squadron. They are awaiting orders but she thinks she will be in California until summer. Ian will graduate from UIC this spring and will report to basic training for the Marines.

Uncle Steve is still in New York. Cory & Tim are living in New York and busy with their jobs. Kate has a boyfriend and lives in Milwaukee.

Aunt Sally, Jenny & kids, Andrew and his wife are all in Vermont. We saw Aunt Sally for a little while over Thanksgiving.

Alyssa (Dusty) – update us on your family!!! Or anyone who wants to!
Erin and Allie – update us on your family!!! Or anyone who wants to!

I’m sure I forgot tons of stuff… so now it’s your turn – please reply and fill us all in!

Until next Sunday….Remember Family (& possibly) the Cubs is the most important thing in the world.!
